The Financing Conference - Saturday, June 25

The Financing Conference is a day full of workshops and panels for both the novice and the seasoned producer. From a primer on film financing to detailed discussion on current trends in the foreign market, this conference will provide first-hand information and advice from the experts.

Basic Film Financing
An in-depth presentation by Lewis Horwitz of the ways that films get financed. This session is designed for those who are new to film financing and will include an explanation of basic film financing structures and terminology.

Co-Productions and International Film Financing
Experts in international film financing explore the state of independent film financing within the context of current international and domestic market trends.

Financing and Funding Opportunities
Representatives from cable and independent production companies, as well as program officers from public funding organizations, explain their financing structures, how to approach their companies, what products they are looking to produce, and share tips for concise and effective ways to present narrative and documentary projects for cable, television, and theatrical distribution.

New Federal Tax Incentives
In October of 2004, the Federal Government passed new tax legislation that benefits film productions under 15 million dollars. As the legislation begins to be applied and evolves, join us for this follow-up session, where panelists will explain the new incentives, talk about what this initiative represents, its impact on local productions, and how it is currently being applied and used in combination with other state domestic incentives.
