Film and Fashion: A Misconception
Sunday, June 25
Time: 7 pm

For years cinema has helped define popular culture, nowhere more so than in fashion – or so we believe. Join us as directors and their costume designers discuss their imaginations, collaborations, and craft. Guests include renowned costume designer Louise Mingenbach (Usual Suspects, X-Men), President of the Costume Designers Guild Deborah Nadoolman Landis (Coming to America, Raiders of the Lost Ark), and director John Landis (Coming to America, Blues Brothers).
Global Crisis: Can Films Save the World?
Tuesday, June 27
Time: 7 pm
Place: W Los Angeles

We live in an increasingly burdened and divided world – and cinema explores, reflects and documents this. But is anybody listening? Can “political cinema” be a force for change? Join Filmmakers Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now), Harry Thomason (The Hunting of the President), Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking), Chris Paine,(Who Killed the Electric Car), Dean Devlin (Independence Day) and Meena Nanji, (View from a Grain of Sand) and Sonali Kolhatkar as they discuss their art and its influence on cinema, political thinking and culture.
La Dolce Vita: Celebrity Photography, Then and Now
Wednesday, June 28
Time: 7 pm
Place: W Los Angeles

During the “Golden Age” of Hollywood, stars developed profound and intimate bonds with their photographers. Celebrity portraiture was an art form unto itself. Today, there is a wall of publicists and “people” photographers must negotiate and penetrate to reach their subjects. Join renowned photographers Michael Childers and John Stoddart, along with actors Lesley Ann Warren, and Sally Kellerman and Andre Chautard as they examine the mutual seduction of photographer and subject.
