Lee Yoon-ki was born in Daojoon in 1965. After acquiring a master's degree in business administration from the University of Southern California, Lee returned to Korea and directed several short films. His feature film, This Charming Girl, screened at major festivals including Pusan, Sundance, and Berlin. The following year, his second feature, Love Talk, was invited to the Korea Panorama at Pusan.
