Charles Burnett
Charles Burnett

Charles Burnett was born in 1944 in Mississippi. While earning an MFA in filmmaking at UCLA, he directed his first feature, the acclaimed Killer of Sheep. His other films include My Brother's Wedding, To Sleep with Anger, The Glass Shield, and Nat Turner: A Troublesome Property. The Library of Congress has entered two of his films—Killer of Sheep and To Sleep with Anger—into the National Film Registry.
