Garin Nugroho adapts an episode from the seminal Ramayana epic for his provocative foray into a brand of cross-cultural and multiform cinema which encompasses Mozart's Requiem, gamelan music, sacred court dance and modern conceptual art installations. The story concerns a pair of former dancers (Artika Sari Devi and Miroto), now pottery makers in a fraying marriage, and the rich village bully (Eko Supriyanto) who comes between them.
