As Lee Yoon-kis richly observed family portrait opens, three men approach a young woman they take to be a long-lost friend. The girl denies knowing them, but she still agrees to their desperate request: pretend to be the estranged daughter of a man on his deathbed. Once at the dying mans home, the presence of this apparent stranger draws out long-held family secrets and resentments over the course of a single night. Lee gives his excellent ensemble cast time and space to build layered performances in this captivating, sometimes poignant, slice of life.
