Apichatpong Weerasethakul
Apichatpong Weerasethakul was born in 1970 in Bangkok and earned his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since the 1990s he has become one of the few filmmakers in Thailand to work outside his country's strict studio system. His last feature,
Tropical Malady, won the jury prize at Cannes in 2004.
