In their third collaboration together, Jonathan Demme and Neil Young capture a double homecoming for Young. First, Young takes the stage for a solo performance in Toronto, the city where he was born, at the venerable Massey Hall. Recorded at the end of the recent Le Noise tour, the concert finds Young playing new songs along with classics like “After the Gold Rush” and an absolutely blistering version of “Ohio.” Intercut with the performance is a driving tour of Young’s boyhood home of Omemee, Ontario. As the musician weaves his way through the small rural community, he provides a running, free-association commentary on his past and how the time slips away.
