Conversations and Talks
(10 mins)
The explosion of portable media players, compact cameras and internet platforms offers endless opportunities to filmmakers ready to take the plunge into the unknown.

Departure Date is the first film to take extreme location shooting (and editing) to a new high: 35,000 feet. Starring Oscar-nominated Gena Rowlands, Olive is the first full-length film shot entirely on a camera phone. Hear from the directors of these two films, Kat Coiro and Hooman Khalili, as well as Departure Date's cinematographer Doug Chamberlain, and learn how they pulled it off. Find out through their experiences how making these unique films has stretched their imagination and strengthened their creative muscles.

This session will include a screening of the short Departure Date, shot on three different airlines, and clips from the feature film Olive.
